What to see and do in Ganges

Stay at a campsite near Ganges and enjoy the Cévennes countryside and the many activities on offer in this beautiful region.

If you love nature and active vacations, you’re in for a treat.

Discover the village of Ganges from your campsite

The village of Ganges is located in the Hérault department (34), at the southern gateway to the Cévennes. This quiet little town is an ideal starting point for exploring the Causses and Cévennes. Its strategic position, at the confluence of the Vis, Hérault and Rieutord rivers, has made it a place of passage and exchange for centuries, between plains and mountains.

In the historic part of Ganges, relics bear witness to this past, such as one of the fountains dating back to the XVIIIᵉ century.

Every Friday morning, Ganges hosts the region’s finest market. It’s an opportunity to discover the local produce on display at the producers’ stalls: honeys, chestnuts, Pélardons des Cévennes, sweet onions and more.

If you want to enjoy the panoramic views of Ganges, don’t hesitate to take the “voie verte”, a 4.5-kilometre route laid out on a former railroad line. On foot, on horseback or by bike, the voie verte is safe and ideal for a family outing.

Ganges is a great place to live and stay for all lovers of peace and space. What’s more, all local services are available in the town.
